Old versus New
In the (not so long ago) age of typewriters, carbon paper and photocopiers, Neighbourhood Watch schemes used to communicate with their local community by producing newsletters that were sent to local co-ordinators who would ensure the information was further copied out to their "watch" which was often a street or road or some other type of group. By building a large network of co-ordinators the scheme was able to reach many people but in the age of email, text messages, Facebook and Twitter Harlow Neighbourhood have chosen to try adapt to a new form of digital communication to make it quicker and simpler to pass on important messages at the touch of a button and hence we have here our first e-Newsletter.
With this e-Newsletter, we aim to help people protect themselves and their properties and to reduce the fear of crime by means of improved home security, greater vigilance, accurate reporting of suspicious incidents to the police and by fostering a community spirit. We are only planning to publish about two newsletters a month unless there is urgent information we need to get to you about your neighbourhood as we have no desire to fill up your email box.
